Nokia Smart TV Is Expected To Launch in India on December 5

Famous for its mobile division, Nokia also made widescreen TVs in the 90s of the last century, and now the company seems to want to return.

According to Engadget, Nokia’s efforts in the TV market in the past have never caught up with mainstream technology enthusiasts. However, things could change after Nokia is planning to launch a new Smart TV series in India.

Nokia will not directly produce Smart TVs, but retail giant Flipkart is planning to launch a series of Smart TVs with Nokia branding in the same way that Nokia smartphones are being released by HMD. Details about this device are scarce at the moment but it is likely to come with the JBL audio system provided by Harman.

This is basically an initiative similar to OnePlus when the company recently launched its own line of TVs in India. This makes sense for the Nokia brand as many people in India use their phones as the main way to connect to the internet. So they have relationships with these companies and are more likely to buy them for their homes.

More notably, it highlights Nokia’s change in technology as even a company that once was the king of the mobile market is gradually developing its brand to the consumer market.

Flipkart, the largest e-commerce site in India has officially announced it will launch a Smart TV under the Nokia brand. All products will be manufactured and assembled by Flipkart in the Indian market.

According to reports, Flipkart has full authority to manage and use the Nokia Smart TV brand in the Indian market. Production of the Nokia TV will also be done entirely in the country. In addition, Flipkart also partnered with JBL to be able to bring its audio technologies to the Nokia Smart TV.

Nokia seems to be entering the Smart TV market soon to compete with many brands from China. However, it seems that the Nokia brand Smart TV is just an external brand, and everything inside is manufactured by another unit.
