MediaTek S900: Processor for Smart TV 8K

MediaTek chip maker has just officially introduced the MediaTek S900 SoC chip which can support 8K and high-speed AI resolution for Smart TV 8K series to be released in 2020.
MediaTek SoC S900 chip is produced by ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores and Mali-G52 GPU supports 8K, HDR10 + video decoding. For I / O communication ports, the S900 supports HDMI 2.1A, which provides a maximum bandwidth of 48 G / s – enough to deliver HDR10 + content as well as 4K video of 120 Hz or 8K 60 Hz.
An embedded proprietary APU in the S900 provides AI Image Quality (AI PQ). A comprehensive solution that includes AI features such as face and landscape recognition, works in tandem with MediaTek’s AI vision solution to bring a smart TV experience with richer and more interactive for consumers.

With the combination of MediaTek‘s MiraVision-Pro and exclusive AI PQ, the S900 supports AI scene recognition, able to fundamentally improve image quality by optimizing color saturation, brightness, and sharpness. focus, motion compensation and image noise, even for the original 8K output.
Developers can build applications with the NeuroPilot software development kit (SDK) and enable S900-enabled devices to function as smart home control centers.SoC S900 series has been put into mass production by MediaTek and is expected to reach the consumer market in early 2020.
